8/17 Washington Nationals @ Philadelphia Phillies

8/17 Washington Nationals @ Philadelphia Phillies 6:05pm EST

Phillies TT over 4.5 -138 (1.5u)

After Trea Turner almost hit a Grand Slam in the bottom of the 9th last night just to tease us in the worst way possible, we once again head back to Philadelphia for this matchup. The Phillies certainly have not been kind to us this year, which is crazy considering that they’re one of the best teams in the league. The lineup, just like the Dodgers, is good pretty much all the way through and should be scoring runs at will.

After we couldn’t get the 3u winner on Patrick Corbin last night, we now look to Mackenzie Gore to get the job done for us. Much like Corbin, Gore has not been good for the Nationals this year, as he has a 4.50 ERA and 1.57 WHIP. In his last 8 starts since July 1st, the opposing team is 7-1 to the over for this Team Total line, with the one loss being a hook. There is some great historical success between this Phillies lineup and Gore as well. Philadelphia has a .291 batting average and .354 OBP in 103 At Bats vs Gore, with 7 of their 30 hits being Home Runs. This year, the Phillies faced Gore twice, once in April and once in May. In both games, he was able to limit the damage from the Phillies, allowing 2 runs off 5 hits and 3 runs off 6 hits. However, that was early in the season, when Gore allowed over 3 runs in only 1 of his first 11 starts.

As of late, Gore has been much worse and the Phillies have been very good on the year overall, with a team batting average of .257, including .261 at home and .272 (with a .347 OBP) against left-handed pitchers. We believe that after yesterday’s disappointment in the 9th inning, that we can bounce back here and see 5 Phillies runs this evening for some redemption.
