We get an early game here on this Wednesday and we are looking to back our trusty Royals here to start things off today. Bailey Ober was expected to start this game for the Twins, which would have made this an excellent play, but a late pitching change has thrown Louie Varland up to start. We still like this play a lot, even though there really isn't any history between Varland and this Royals lineup. This line, at 3.5 -110 was too good to pass up when we grabbed it last night and that still rings true today. Even though the Royals have lost their last two games, they still scored 3 runs and had plenty of opportunities to cash this line against the Twins.

This line is 9-3 for the Royals in August, with all 3 losses coming by way of hook. We like them to bounce back a little bit today against a struggling pitcher in Varland. He has a 6.46 ERA and 1.66 WHIP on the year in 7 starts. Against good hitting teams like the Guardians, Dodgers, Brewers and Orioles, Varland has allowed 3,6,6,3 runs, as this Team Total over line is 5-2 in games that he has started, with both losses coming as hooks. We like the potential for runs here today, and even though the wind is blowing in at about 11mph, we dont really know why the Team Total for the Royals is this low.

We will die on this hill every time: Take 3.5 Team Totals for good hitting teams against subpar pitching, no matter what. This has worked very well for us this year and we can see it working again this afternoon. Let's start off the slate today with an early unit upgrade winner and set the tone.
