San Diego Padres @ Chicago Cubs 7:40pm EST

Chicago Cubs First 5 (F5) -0.5 -115 (1u)

Today we are backing perhaps the best pitcher in baseball right now in Shota Imanaga. In 6 starts this year for the Cubs, Imanaga has a 5-0 record, highlighted by a 0.78 ERA and 0.75 WHIP. He has allowed 22 hits and 5 runs in 34.2 innings, with only 4 total walks. He held the league's best offense in the Dodgers to just 2 hits in 4 innings, and today will face the league’s second best offense in the Padres. Imanaga will once again have to bring his A-game tonight against this Padres lineup, but he has given no reason to not back him this year.

Pitching for the Padres today is Randy Vasquez, a right hander making just his third start of the season. In both starts, the opposing team has scored 4 runs off Vasquez, as he has not pitched more than 5 innings this year. Vasquez comes into this game with a 5.87 ERA and 1.83 WHIP, which the Cubs should be licking their lips at. The Cubs have scored the 6th most runs in the MLB this year, all while having the 17th most hits, which suggests that they are good at getting men on base and driving in runs in the form of extra base hits. On a warm and windy day at Wrigley, with a healthy 10mph breeze blowing out to dead center, the Cubs have a great opportunity to get after Randy Vasquez and plate some early runs. They will look to Shota Imanaga to continue his stellar campaign tonight.

We like this F5 RL because we think that the Cubs can get after Vasquez in the first 5 innings, and should get another solid outing from Imanaga. All we need is a Cubs 1-0 or 2-1 lead after 5, and we have the right pitching matchup to get it done.
